Stephen était un chanteur talentueux

avec une voix reconnaissable

 un acteur, un danseur 

Un jeune homme gentil, reconnaissant

sensible, fragile courageux à la fois

ayant du caractère, était imaginatif

Aimé de tous.

 









Stephen Patrick David Gately, né le 17 mars 1976 est mort le 10 octobre 2009, était un chanteur pop talentueux, auteur-compositeur et acteur irlandais, qui, avec Ronan Keating, était l'un des deux chanteurs de premier plan dans le boys band irlandais Boyzone.

Tous les albums studio du groupe numéro un au Royaume-Uni ont été des succès internationaux.

En 1999, Stephen a révélé ouvertement son homosexualité.

En 2000, son album solo NEW BEGINNING sort le 29 Mai 2000 entre dans le Top 10 des albums les plus vendus au Royaume-Uni. Le single atteint le n 3 dans les charts UK.

Puis, il continue sa carrière artistique pour apparaître dans diverses productions théâtrales dans la comédie musicale Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat   dans Chitty Bang Bang au London Palladium 

Le deuxième single extrait de l'album  "I BELIEVE  ". Sortira le 2 octobre 2000, cette chanson figurait également sur la bande originale du film BILLY ELLIOT

En mai 2001, sort le troisième single de Stephen, " STAY"

De 2000 à 2002, Stephen  a beaucoup souffert de dépression 

suite à la pause forcée  qui devenait un break trop prolongé..... du groupe BOYZONE 

dûe au début solo du leader RONAN KEATING


Stephen  a fait ses débuts en pantomime au Churchill Theatre de Bromley en décembre 2005 avec le rôle de Dandini dans Cendrillon .

 En avril 2006, il a endossé le rôle de The Scarecrow dans The Wizard of Oz au Marlowe Theatre de Canterbury .

 Il était également dans la deuxième série de Dancing on Ice d'ITV 

En 2008, Stéphen est apparu dans le film d'horreur indépendant Credo , sorti aux États-Unis sous le nom de Devil's Curse .


Au cours des trois années précédant sa mort, Stephen  avait écrit un roman fantastique pour enfants appelé The Tree of Seasons . Dans une interview accordée à l' Association de la presse en avril 2009, il déclara qu'il avait presque..... terminé et espérait une sortie pour Noël 2009

Le livre est resté un best-seller et un top dix vendeur pendant trois semaines consécutives.

En 2007, il rejoint ses anciens partenaires du groupe Boyzone, reformé pour une grande tournée au Royaume-Uni en 2008.

 La même année le groupe sort un best of de leur plus grands tubes ("Back again ... No matter what") et deux nouveaux singles intitulés "Love you anyway" et "Better".

Boyzone préparait un nouvel album pour début 2010.

Stephen Gately est décédé le 10 octobre 2009 à Majorque, alors qu'il était en vacances .

 Il est mort d'un œdème pulmonaire dû à une faiblesse cardiaque congénitale.

Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le 17 octobre 2009 dans l'église de St Lawrence O'Toole à Dublin.

Les 4 autres membres du groupe Boyzone étaient présents, ont chanté pendant la cérémonie et ont porté son cercueil.




En septembre 2020, le conseil municipal de Dublin a accepté de nommer " Stephen Gately Park " en l' honneur du chanteur.

Boyzone star Keith Duffy ‘gushing with pride’ as he shares heartfelt message for daughter’s 21st birthday 11 Mar 2021 BOYZONE star Keith Duffy has said he is "gushing with pride" as he celebrates his daughter Mia's 21st birthday. The singer took to social media with a heartfelt message and a sweet slideshow for his youngest child's special day. The singer praised Mia, as "the kindest, most selfless human being on this planet". Keith's sweet message read: "Her smile can brighten up the darkest places, her laugh is contagious. "Her love knows no boundaries, her compassion for others is powerful, she is the kindest most selfless human being on this planet. "Her ability to overcome the most challenging of obstacles in her life is simply inspirational. "She educates us everyday how to be better people and how we should always be aware of those around us less fortunate and try to help." BIRTHDAY PRAISE He continued: "I’m just gushing with pride today as Mia Duffy, the best daughter any man could dream of having, turns 21 years young. "Happy Birthday @miad20001151. We love you to bits and we are the proudest parents in the universe. "May all your dreams come through baby." The singer's slideshow included snaps of the whole family, photos of just Keith and Mia together and some baby photos of Mia. Keith also shared a snap of Mia to his Instagram story and said: "Happy Birthday to the best daughter in the universe! 21 today". 'BEAUTIFUL WORDS' Taking to the comments, fans and friends wished Mia a Happy Birthday. Fellow Boyzone star Ronan Keating said: "Happy Birthday beautiful lady." Ysabel wrote: "What a beautiful tribute and how lucky are you to be such proud parents!" Tisha commented: "Beautiful words . Happy birthday young lady". Jenny added: "Wow 21, happy 21st Birthday to Mia! Hope she has a wonderful day".

Keith Duffy the Boyzlife star looks almost unrecognisable with his near shoulder-length hairstyle. Keith shared a snap of his “covid hair” on Saturday, and promised to shave it all off as soon as restrictions end. He wrote: “Covid hair ! Once this sh**e ends I’ll shave me head. Until then Locks grow and grow #Samson”. Pre-pandemic, Keith travels the world as a singer with Boyzone as well as his successful boyband spin-off with Brian McFadden, Boyzlife, but he and wife Lisa decided to continue to base their family life here in Ireland. However he and wife Lisa have made the conscious decision to stay in Ireland with their two kids; Jay, aged 24, and 20 year old Mia. He said: "My daughter Mia is autistic and was going to a brilliant education facility here so we stayed in Ireland. It meant I've hardly been home, though, and that's put a strain on everyone. I'd only get back every few weeks, and now the kids are older with their own lives I hardly saw them. "I know some people have been having an awful time, but for me this has been a godsend. I've been having dinner with my family, playing board games. This is not a life I had before.

The Boyzone singer took to Instagram to share details of his accident. Sharing a video showing his bike, he admitted that he nearly broke his wrist after falling off his bike. “Beautiful morning interrupted by a spill over the handlebars!” he wrote. He then added, “Thanks to @bodybyrne for getting to the hospital and apologies to @ronan.corrigan.3 for messing up the Spin !” He shared a second picture that showed him outside the hospital, with his arm strapped up in a brace. In the video he explains, "Greetings on a very beautiful sunny morning in Howth, on the peninsula of Howth.” “First day on the bike in two years Richie kitted me out looking great. I get to Howth, over the handlebars, nearly break my wrist and get a puncture. Have I got a spare? No spare” he admitted. Keith recently moved back home to Ireland officially last week from the UK. He initially spent the first lockdown at home with his family in Dublin at the beginning of last year, but has permanently made the move. Sharing an image of his moving truck last week, he described the move from the UK back home as being "stress free".

The singer swapped the UK for Ireland last year as he spent the first lockdown with his wife Lisa and their two kids, Jay and Mia. But now Keith has made the move permanent after bringing all of his belongings back to his family home in greater Dublin. Moving house is a stressful process, especially in these uncertain times, but the Boyzone legend said that everything was made very easy. Posing for a snap with the movers outside his house, Keith said: "Thanks to Kev and Keith from @carelinemoving "They honestly made my move back home so stress free !!!"
